Eight Grand County High School seniors will vie for top honors in their respective categories at the 32nd annual Southeastern Utah Sterling Scholars competition, scheduled for Tuesday, March 6, at the Utah State University's College of Eastern Utah campus in Price, Utah.
Larissa Hatch (Foreign Language) is the daughter of Travis Clark, Teri Clark and Troy Hatch. She says she has a passion for Spanish, school, reading, writing, family, friends, traveling and helping others. She is currently involved in Art Club, Amigos Club, GCHS Student Council, Earth Club and the National Honor Society. Throughout her high school years she has participated in many activities, including volleyball, FCCLA, cheerleading, the Tobacco Free Life club, debate and track. She always tries to challenge Michael Kors Tote Tumblr herself by taking difficult classes. She received the Excellence Award in Spanish 2 and Spanish 3. Udit Bhavsar (General Scholarship) is the son of Mayank and Pankita Bhavsar. He is active in debate, Future Business Leaders of America, Science Olympiad, Chemistry Olympics, Quiz Bowl, the JETS junior engineering club, Readers Anonymous, and soccer. He has served as the president, captain or on the officer team of every group or organization in which he has participated. He is trilingual, speaking two dialects of his native country (India) and English. He was awarded both Student of the Month and Student of the Year as a freshman, received a National Science Award in his sophomore year, and has also earned awards at state in Science Olympiad and debate. He says his passion for science and compassion for others have led him to want to pursue a career in cardiology.
Brooklyn Richards (Speech and Drama) is the daughter of Jeff and Penny Richards. She says performing on stage is her greatest passion. She lettered in drama for three years and earned straight superior ratings at the State Drama Competition in 2011. In debate, she has won awards in duo interpretation. She has served as a debate captain, drama club president, National Honor Society member and chapter vice president, and president of her graduating class. She also played varsity tennis and was a tennis region champion in 2011.
Hadley Schank (Social Science) is the daughter of Eric Schank. She is active in many groups such as the National Honor Society, debate, and Earth Club. She volunteers with organizations such Michael Kors Ava Medium Blush
Tressa Franklin (Family, Consumer and Health Science) is the daughter of Carol Gough. She is involved in the National Honor Society, Art Club, Tobacco Free Life Club, Readers Anonymous, and is an officer in the school's FCCLA (Family, Career, and Community Leaders of America) chapter. She has received outstanding achievement awards in English, earth science and algebra, and also lettered in varsity tennis. She says she has a passion for child care, cooking, photography and making a difference in the world and in other people's lives.
Jessica Montague (Math) is the daughter of Cindy Montague. She says she loves math and is excited to pursue a career as a math teacher. Working with animals and children are her passions. She actively volunteers in her community helping women and children at the local women's shelter and working with the Humane Society doing adoption days and helping out in the office as needed. She has participated in volleyball, and cheerleading.

Lauren Keogh (English) is the daughter of Tom and Anita Keogh. She says she loves geography, history, reading, and most of all playing tennis. She writes and is an editor of her school's student newspaper, The Devils' Advocate. She was the captain of the tennis team, is a member of the National Honor Society, and was awarded Citizen of the Year for her senior class from the Daughters of the American Revolution. She is also a graduate of Girls State. She is active in her community, volunteering at the local elementary school, the extended care facility at Moab Regional Hospital, and tutoring at the Moab Multicultural Center. As a junior, she was awarded both GCHS Student of the Month and Student of the Year.

Cassidy Gill (Visual Arts) is the daughter of James and Tiffany Gill. She enjoys photography, dancing and painting. She is passionate about the arts in all forms and was awarded "Most Promising Artist" her freshman year. She has danced throughout high school, participating in both private dance companies and as the captain of the high school drill team, the Devilettes. She is the chapter president and a member of the National Honor Society, participates in Art Club and in the JETS junior engineering math and engineering competition. She says she is passionate about others, especially her family, and loves spending time with her family and friends.
